Rishi Panchami Today In Nepal
By KTM Metro Reporter
September 10, 2013: Nepalese Hindu women are celebrating the last day of ‘teez’ festival today. The day is called Rishi Panchamai as women make offerings to Lord Rikheyasvaore and then seven Rishis that gave birth to all Hindus.
Nepalese women believe that all the sins they have probably committed during the last year will be washed away by cleansing their bodies today at the nearest water source, and then making offerings to Lord Rikheyasvore and then seven Rishsi.
Thousands of women have gathered at Teku in Kathmandu to take a holy dip at the confluence of Bagmati and Vishnumati Rivers, and then make offerings to Lord Shiva called Rikheyasvaore.
Police has sealed off the area at Teku to keep away men for the women to freely take a holy dip in the water at the confluence of two Rivers: Bagmati and Vishnumati, and cleanse their bodies as they like to wash away the sins they might have committed in a year doing things that the Hindu code of ethics don’t permit.
