Deadline For Submitting Lists Of Nominees For Proportional Representation

December 17, 2013: the deadline for submitting the lists of appointees for the proportional representation in the CA is expiring on December 18, 2013; however, most of the major political parties have been suffering from the internal squabbling of the claimants over the slots in the new CA. NC and CPN-UML have not been able to sort out the problems of sending the lists of the names of appointees for the proportional representation in the CA. RPP-Nepal had sent a list to the Election Commission but the EC has seni it back for reviewing the list after some of its leaders complained about the chairman preparing the list not following the rules prescribed by the EC.
Following the request made by the political parties, the EC has extended the deadline for submitting the lists of names of nominees for the proportional representation to December 25, 2013. It remains to be seen whether all political parties would submit their lists within the deadline or not. UCPN-Maoist and 17 other political parties are not for submitting the lists of the names of the appointees for the proportional representation until a high level commission on investigation into the flaws in the elections is set up.
