Corruption In Awarding Contracts for Police Rations

December 6, 2010: the state anti-corruption agency called Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has been investigating the irregularities in the contracts awarded by the district police offices to the contractors for supplying rations to the Nepal Police. The contracts made by the district police offices for providing the Nepal Police with rations involve billions of rupees. Such contracts for rations are for feeding the huge army of the Nepal Police.

According to myrepublica.com, the Nepal Police have 60,000-strong force, and spends Rs 2.41 billion state money per annum on the rations for feeding such a huge number of Nepal Police, and have been involved in practicing corruption in dealing with the private contractors for the supply of rations to the police.

The news posted on the myrepublica.com says that the Nepal Police have managed to show on paper that contractors have provided rations to the police staffs but in reality they have been receiving cash for rations at the reduced rate.
