Tourist Arrival in Nepal Booming

Issue 01, January 06, 2008

Nepal Tourism Board disclosed that a number of tourists visiting Nepal reached 360,350 in 2007 in comparison to 283,516 in 2006 making 27.1% growth in 2007 over 2006. It has been all time high since 2000. The two main reasons for the record-high-tourist arrival are: (1) the ongoing peace process and political stability (3) operation of nine new international airlines in 2007.

Tourism entrepreneurs said that the existing hotel capacity is enough for holding one million tourists for three nights; however, other infrastructures such as roads and drinking water, and other supplies could not meet the requirements for such a number of tourists to serve.
