Nepalese Women Mountain Climbers Scaling Tallest Mountains

November 6, 2012: A team of seven Nepalese women scaled the highest mountain called Mount Everest (Sagarmatha in Nepal) in 2008. Now, they are eyeing for scaling other tall mountains in other six continents according to the news posted on news.xinhuanet.com. The team is going to scale the tallest mountains such as Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, Mt. Elbrus in Europe, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Aconcagua in South America, Mt. Denali in North America and Mt. Vinson in Antarctica. 

The seven women team comprises Shailie Basnet, Asha Kumari Singh, Gunu Shrestha, Nimdoma Sherpa, Pema Diki Sherpa, Pujan Acharya and Maya Gurung. It captures different ethnic groups making it inclusive as much as possible. They first came together in 2007 to set up a 'First Inclusive Women Sagarmatha (Everest) Expedition 2008' program. 

Initially, the team had a problem of meeting resources required for the expedition but they managed to receive donations from various organizations and the government, too to fund the expedition. After their success in scaling the Mount Everest, the team got encouraged to launch similar expeditions in other continents.
