China-Nepal Friendship and cooperation

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China posted the following news releases titled “Yang Jiechi Meets with Nepali Foreign Secretary Acharya” on its website: Fmprc.gov.cn

On February 18, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in Beijing with visiting Nepali Foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya. During the meeting, Yang said in the current international and regional situations, further consolidation of the traditional friendship and deepening of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries are not only in keeping with the fundamental interest of the two countries and the common aspiration of both peoples, but also conducive to regional peace, stability and development. China has always been dealing with and developing ties with Nepal from a strategic and long-term perspective and is ready to work with Nepal to push forward China-Nepal good-neighborly partnership and friendship for generations. Yang appreciated the Nepali government for its consistent support for the issues concerning the China’s core interest.

Acharya said Nepal attaches great importance to ties with China and is ready to boost friendly exchanges and cooperation with China in multiple areas and at various levels and continuously enhance bilateral ties. The Nepali government firmly adheres to the one-China policy and acknowledges that Tibet is an inalienable part of China's territory. Nepal does not allow any force to engage in anti-China activities on the Nepali soil.

On the same day, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei met with Acharya. On February 17, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue and Acharya held the eighth round of China-Nepal diplomatic consultations.
