Presidential Rule In Nepal

Issue 21, May 22, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 17, 2011: Nepalese President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has said that the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 has no provision for the presidential rule; he will strictly follow the constitution in other words he will not impose a presidential rule.

The truth is he has already once abuse the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 by directly writing a letter to the Chief of Army Staff fired by Prime Minister Prachanda, and saving his job at the cost of violating the constitution.

Mr. President has been behaving as a cadre of the Nepali Congress. So, we cannot believe him as long as his Nepali Congress party goes against the existence of the Constituent Assembly refusing to extend it for completing the writing of a constitution. His party might propose him for enforcing a presidential then Mr. President will not have any other choice but to do it. Once he has abused the constitution so he would not have difficulty to abuse it a second time.
