Grand Design Of UDMF And UCPN-Maoist

Issue 24, June 10, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 4, 2012: The NC leaders yesterday came to the conclusion that the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly and announcement of the fresh CA elections just half an hour before the expiry of the CA tenure on May 27 was a grand-design of the UCPN-Maoist and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), ‘The Rising Nepal’ of June 3, 2012 writes.

At the same time speaking at an interaction on ‘Current Political Crisis and Solution’ held by Political Experts’ Association, senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Nepal said that the country was moving to a deep constitutional and political crisis after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA); the reckless activities of the Maoists were responsible for the current political and constitutional crisis, according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of June 3, 2012.

However, some political analysts question whether the NC and CPN-UML leaders have really gone through the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 before stating the dissolution of the CA and the call of fresh CA elections are unconstitutional. If they have carefully read the constitution they would surely won’t say so rather go to the people in preparation for the elections but they are not for going to the people but to go to the streets and shut down the country to take the power from the streets rather than from the sovereign people through ballots.

According to the news in ‘The Rising Nepal’ of June 2, 2012, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai went to the residence of President of NC Sushil Koirala to build a consensus but Mr. Koirala rebuked the prime minister for dissolving the CA and not paving the way for the NC to form a new government. "I clearly told the Prime Minister that the Maoist leadership still had the mentality of capturing state powers," Koirala told the reporters after the meeting. "We offer him help to form a consensus government, but he talked only about forging consensus." Koirala said, "The NC is not ready to talk to the Maoists currently and NC will go to the people for its movement."

Before the term of the CA ended on May 27, 2012, Mr. Koirala had clearly stated that he was not for extending the term of the CA anymore, as it went against the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nepal on not extending the term of the CA anymore. Now, the same guy has been telling the people that the dissolution of the CA is the grand design of the UCPN-Maoist and the UDMF.
