Bailing Out Colonel Lama: Torturer Of Arrestee

Issue 11, March 17, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

March 16, 2013: the government of Nepal has posted a bail of £10,000 at the UK court for the release of Colonel Lama. Thereafter a judge at Chelmsford Crown Court ordered to release Colonel Kumar Lama with the restriction to leave UK, according to Nepalnews.com.

Advocacy Forum: a Nepal-based human rights group had helped the victim of the torture inflicted by Colonel Kumar Lama in Nepal to file the case in collaboration with a UK law firm. Following the complaint, the UK police had arrested colonel Kumar Lama while in the official holiday in the UK to meet his family in December 2012

Shame on the government of Nepal that needed to bring Kumar Lama: the perpetrator of the human rights violation rather paid for his release. The government of Nepal should immediately stop such illegal actions. The Interim Election Council head by Chief Justice Khil Raj Regime should have stopped paying such a bail amount.
