Prime Minister Grants Audience to Ambassadors

On March 23, 2009, Prime Minister Prachanda granted separate audience to the Ambassadors of the US, Australia and Israel.
Responding to the concerns of US Ambassador to Nepal Nancy Powell about the army integration, peace process, and retirement of eight brigadier generals, Prime Minister told her that the army integration would be completed within the coming four months before the end of the term of UNMIN in Nepal, and the government did not extend the terms of brigadier generals following the Army Act according to the Prime Minister’s private secretary Hira Bahadur Thapa.
Similarly, the Prime Minister granted an audience to the Australian Ambassador to Nepal Suzanne Grace and had talks with her on the matters of mutual interest. During the meeting the Ambassador told the Prime Minister that the Australia was doubling its assistance amount to Nepal and requested the Prime Minister for expediting the work on the West Seti Hydropower plant. An Australian company has made investment in it.
The Prime Minister also granted an audience to the Israel Ambassador to Nepal. During the meeting the Ambassador told the Prime Minister that despite the global economic meltdown Israel would not reduce the number of Nepalese workers going to work in Israel.
