Judiciary Should Not Be Made A Guinea Pig

May 9, 2012: speaking at the function held to mark the Law Day in Kathmandu on May 8, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal Khil Raj Regmi has said that the judiciary should not be made a ‘guinea pig’ in course of the restructuring of the judiciary following the crafting of a new constitution, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. The Chief Justice has made this remark when the major political parties reportedly have tentatively agreed on a Constitutional Court.
Hinting at the tentative agreement reached among the political parties to set up a separate Constitutional Court, Chief Justice Regmi has said that leaders need to take into account of the procedural difficulties and the problems of human resource management in case of a provision made for a Constitutional Court in the new constitution. The Chief Justice suggested strengthening the Supreme Court to address every concern about justice and judiciary.
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Vice President Paramanda Jha, ministers, justices of the Supreme Court, government officials, diplomats, lawyers, media persons have attended the function held in the compound of the Supreme Court of Nepal.
