January 13, 2011: speaking at the function to inaugurate the Eighth Conference of Nepal Progressive TU Teachers Association in Kirtipur on January 12, 2011, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has said that neither the current left-democratic alliance nor any other alliance is likely to break the current deadlock, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

"The existing alliance is unable to solve the problems facing the nation; some friends are for alliance of left forces while others are of rightists. Both types of alliance could not steer the nation," Chairman Khanal said. He has also said that any government keeping the Maoists out of it will not work on resolving the problems. His archrival Madhav Nepal has accused him of intriguing to lead a new government with the support of the Maoists only to have his pictures hanged along with the pictures of other prime ministers at the State Secretariat, Singhadurbar.

The CPN-UML Central Disciplinary Commission has warned that some leaders meeting in secret referring to the secret meeting KP Oli has held with Madhav Nepal at the official residence of prime minister, Baluwatar and the letter floated for calling an immediate Central Committee go beyond the values and norms of the party. The commission has asked the leaders not to indulge in the activities that go against the statute of the party. KP Oli and Madhav Nepal have tried the best even until the last moment to garner the support of the CPN-UML for the NC candidate Ram Chandra Poudel.
