Former Minister Accused Of Revenue Transfer

Issue 07, February 13, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 9, 2011: defying the Local Self Governance Act, Former Minister for Land Reforms and Management Dambar Bahadur Shrestha has transferred the five per cent of revenue allocated to the local bodies to the Department of Land Revenues and Management thus bringing the money given to local bodies back to the center at the last moment of leaving the office, ‘The Himalayan Times’ online writes. The Clause 220 of the Local Self Governance Act clearly states that local bodies will get the revenue collected from the fees for land and house sales registration.

This is another example of how former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal had enjoyed disregarding the rule of law and following the cabinet decisions on various matter that serve the interest of his own and that of his ministers and relatives.

The new government should prosecute Madhav Nepal and his ministers for not following the rule of law and doing almost everything by the decisions of the council of ministers. His cabinet and he have made billions of rupees worth of loss to the country while they have been in the government for 20 months.
