Federalism Based On Ethnicity

February 7, 2013; the three-day National Convention of the Gurung Council concluded in Jhapa recently, issuing a 16-point Birtadmod declaration. The Council had demanded an autonomous Tamuhan state along with the right to self-decision while restructuring the state. Federalism with ethnic identity, constitution with federalism and the promulgation of a new constitution through the Constituent Assembly are other demands put forth by the Council, according to the RSS news of today.
Vice-Chairman of CPN-UML Bamdev Gautam accused the UCPN-Maoist of making efforts to impose ethic federalism. ”The UCPN-Maoist would fade away like the fascist Hitler with its fake socialism diminishing,” he argued, according to nepalnews.com.
