Issue 43, October 26, 2008

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

General Secretary of CPN-Unity Center (Mashal) Narayan Kaji Shrestha revealed that his party and CPN (Maoist) have been working for changing the name of the party once the two parties merge.

On arrival at the International airport in Kathmandu from the recent New York visit, Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai told reporters that his party’s name would be Communist Party of Nepal, and no need for identifying as Maoist.

General Secretary of another communist party called CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal also hinted that his party also might remove the identification label. Another leader of CPN-UML and Minister for Home Bamdev Gautam also said that he did not see any need for the identification tag for his party.
