Peace Corps Engagement In Nepal Again

January 18, 2012: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been glad to welcome the Peace Corps volunteers back to Nepal after sense years of the break of their services in a program attended by the American Ambassador. The prime minister has said that the Peace Crops volunteers will help in the agricultural extension and the farmers will be the beneficiaries. The prime minister also has said that the reengagement of Peace Corps volunteers is the indication of the positive attitude of America to the peace process in Nepal
Speaking in the same program, the American Ambassador to Nepal has said that the engagement of Peace Corps volunteers after seven years of break is a good news and it will contribute to improve the relations between the two countries and to create the environment of fraternity between the two countries, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today 22writes.
Twenty Peace Corps volunteers have arrived in Nepal to engage in various sector of economic and business development in Nepal. More than 20,000 Peace Corps volunteers had worked in Nepal since 1962, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes. Engagement of Peace Corps stopped seven years ago because of the security reason when the conflict in Nepal was at the height.
