May 5, 2011: UCPN-Maoist Lawmaker Jhakku Prasad Subedi has been the second victim of the public slap after Prime Minister Jhanalath Khanal had taken a slap from his own cadres. Not completing the writing of a new constitution on time, lawmakers have irritated Nepalis so much that some Nepalis have even taken the risk of hitting the lawmakers in public.

The owner of a teashop at Tinkune, Prem Raj Devkota of Gaikhur VDC-8, Gorkha district, invited Subedi to his teashop for a cup of tea; unsuspecting lawmaker Subedi accepted the invitation but instead of tea Mr. Devkota gave him one slap after another asking him when the constitution would be completed according to the news posted on the ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’ on May 02, 2011.

After taking slaps from the teashop owner, Subedi fled the scene and reported the police at the Baneshower Metropolitan Police Circle about the incident. The police promptly went to the teashop and took Devkota under custody. Mr. Devkota faces the actions under the Public Offence Act but he did not regret for his actions rather stubborn to his actions and said, “CA members like him betraying the people deserve a slap in the face,” according to the police officer.
