Resident Doctors Shut Down Businesses At Bir Hospital

Issue 01, January 3, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

About 200 resident doctors have continued their protest against the government not enforcing the agreement they have reached with the government about four months ago. At that time, the government has assured the doctors of enforcing the agreement within two weeks but the government has done nothing to implement the agreement even after four months despite the representatives of the resident doctors repeatedly reminding the government for enforcing the agreement but the government has failed in implementing the agreement consequently forcing the residents to close all sorts of businesses including the emergency services at the Bir hospital in Kathmandu. Thus, the current government has shown its incompetence even in the management of the health sector. It is quite clear the current government headed by Madhav Nepal defeated in elections is not accountable to the people.
