Issue 33, August 16, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of August 12, 2009 has the news items stating the head of Lord Kedarnath is in Nepal. According to the news, Sri 1008 Jagadguru Bhimashanker Linga Shivaacharya Mahasvami has told that Dolesvar Mahadev at Sipadole of Bhaktapur is the head of Uttarachan Kedarnath of Bharat (current India).

He is the Jagadguru of the Kedar Bairagya Pitha tradition. He is the chief of the management of Kedarnath, Madhumaysvar, Tunganath, Rudranath and Kalpesvar Mahadev under the Pitha tradition. Following the Pitha tradition, he is the 324th generation of Guru. He is in Kathmandu for the religious rituals in the month called Shravan. He has stated that the historian called Harikrishna Rataidian of Gadaval has revealed the relation between Dolesvar of Sipadole and Kedarnath in 1928.

Before ascending the throne of Kedarpitha, a position of Raval is offered to Shivaacharya. A tradition has it that such a position of Raval is offered only to the Jagam of South India.

Bhaktapur has the Jagam math (monastery). It runs the Dolesvar Mahadev. So, nobody should disrespect the Shivaacharya’s announcement.
