Fifteenth SAARC Summit

Sri Lanka hosted the 15th summit of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in Colombo for two days: Saturday, August 02 and Sunday, August 03. All the heads of delegations of the eight member states such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka jointly inaugurated the regional summit. They then address the summit. Most of them stress the need for combating the terrorism in the member states.

On behalf of more than 100,000 Bhutanese refugees languishing in sub-human condition in seven camps in eastern Nepal for the past 18 years, Human Rights Organization of Bhutan (HUROB) called on all SAARC leaders to address the Bhutanese refugee crisis as one of the major problems of South Asia at the 15th SAARC Summit in Colombo, Sri Lanka according to Nepalnews.com Aug 02 08.

On August 03, wrapping up the summit, the leaders of the eight-member SAARC called for collective actions against all forms of terrorism that has been disrupting peace, stability and security in the region. They also talked many interesting things but the results are little.
