Makeshift Bamboo Hall For International Church Convention Collapses

In Dharan, Eastern Nepal, on September 29, 2009, at about 11:00 PM night, the two-stored makeshift international convention hall made of fresh bamboo and corrugated sheets collapsed causing stampede and killing 23 people including four children. As it was an international church convention, some foreign delegates were also attending the convention but how many foreign delegate died in the accident not know, yet.

According to the Radio Nepal news, the fresh bamboo hall was built for 1,500 people when the number of people sitting there reached 1,700, it gave up and collapsed causing stampede and killing people, most of the killed were women and children.
