No More Medical Schools In The Kathmandu Valley
By KTM Metro Reporter
January 5, 2012: Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma has said that the existing medical colleges have difficulty in finding sufficient number of students; so, the Council of Ministers has decided not to open any new medical colleges in the Kathmandu Valley on the recommendation of his ministry, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
On the one hand Minister Sharma has denied investors the right to open medical colleges on the other hand he has given the existing medical colleges the best possible opportunity of exploiting the monopoly on running these colleges at the maxim possible profits, as Minister Sharma has already stopped any competitors in this sector.
Usually, our ministers do such things when they get the under-the-table payment. However, the current tendency has been that they don’t need to go under the table to collect such illegal money.
Stopping to give permit to open new medical colleges in the Kathmandu Valley goes against the principles of stopping the widespread corruption in the administration.
