Celebrating Festival Of Colors In South Asia

March 26, 2013: today people across South Asia celebrated the festival of colors called ‘holi.’ Traditionally, people celebrated this festival to strengthen friendship, and even renew it in case of break up. Eating different kinds of sweets has been part of the festival across South Asia.

Usually, Hindus celebrate it but anybody could join in celebrating this festival.

In Nepal, hill people celebrated this festival today ending the festival for this year but the Nepalis in Terai do so tomorrow. In Terai, the holi festival starts off immediately after Shivaratri but in the hills it starts on the eighth day of this month, and ends on the full moon day.

The police have checked the drunken driving in Kathmandu, and security checks have been increased elsewhere. Spirit dinking has been part of every festival in Nepal.

Some of the widows in New Delhi have celebrated this festival smearing colors on each other’s faces ending the Hindu taboos of the widows from participating in any festival, according to the news on thehimalayantimes.com,
