By KTM Metro Reporter

August 22, 2010: on the occasion of presenting a book containing detailed information on the complaints lodged at National Human Right Commission (NHRC), Chairman of NHRC Kedarnath Upadhyay has said that the culture of impunity has continued in the nation due to the political leaders and the government giving the protection to the perpetrators of human rights violation; "The present lawlessness situation in the nation has emerged because major three political parties have withdrawn several cases against the criminals while they headed the government," said Chairman Upadhyay; he has complained that the government has never consulted with the NHRC for withdrawing the criminal cases, and the government has not been in a mood to make NHRC autonomous agency; the government has taken full actions only on 8.8 percent, partial actions on the 35.8 percent, and totally ignored 55.7 percent of the 407 recommendations the NHRC has recommended the government to take actions during the past ten years, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of August 21, 2010 reports.
