Nepalese Students Safe in Kyrgyzstan

June 17, 2010: reports coming out of Kyrgyzstan have stated that Nepalese students studying there have taken shelter at the Indian embassy and are safe. Most of the Nepalese students have left their belongings in the rush to escape from Osh. India and Pakistan have started airlifting their students but Nepal has done nothing so far.
The state-run newspaper ‘The Rising Nepal’ of June 17, 2010 has stated that even after the news on the plight of the students, the government has done nothing to rescue or extend its help to the students quoting the guardians of the students left stranded at Osh.
The ethnic violence in Osh has displaced 400,000 people according to the UN news service. Widespread violence has caused loses on both the Uzbek and Kyrgyz people. The Interim Government of Kyrgyzstan has imposed a state of emergency nationwide to manage the violence.
