Government’s Attempt on Covering up Defaulters

Department of Commerce of the Government headed by the president of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala asked explanation from the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) for initiating actions against the petroleum-products dealers that have been abusing the supply of petroleum products according to the mornings news of the state-run Radio Nepal of August 05, 2008.

The Nepalese media have been repeatedly reporting that the petroleum dealers have been abusing the supply of petroleum products adulterating the high-priced petrol with low-priced kerosene, and supplying less quantity than shown by the supply-machine meter.

On August 04, 2008, youth leaders such as Gagan Thapa, Navindra Raj Joshi among others visited the NOC office to find out the problems of short supply of petroleum products. On that occasion, Gagan Thapa said that it was unfortunate the supply of petroleum products has been politicized according to the Nepalese media report.

Nepalis have been facing the short supply of petroleum products since Girija Prasad Koirala has become the Prime Minister of Interim Government. It has been more than two years.
