Evacuating Nepalis From Libya

Issue 09, February 27, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 23, 2011: Nepal has been concerned with evacuating the Nepalese workers from Libya, as the political situation has been growing quite uncertain and the security of people working there has been in question.

As India has decided to evacuate its nationals in a large scale sending ships and airplanes, the Nepalese diplomatic mission accredited to Libya should immediately contact the Indian foreign officials at the highest rank possible and take Nepalis from Libya either in the boats or airplanes they are sending to Libya to bring back Indians from Libya.

According to the Nepalese media report, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been contacting Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani officials for evacuating Nepalis from Libya. However, how seriously, Nepalese officials have been taking up the concerns of Nepalis possibly stranded in Libya and how quickly they will be evacuated are not known, yet.
