Constitution To Be Promulgated By The People From the Street

Issue 46, November 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 11, 2010: speaking at a function held by Nevah Mukti Morcha and Nevah Mukti Manka Dabu to celebrate New Year 1131 following the Nepal Samvat in Bhaktapur on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, Secretary of UCPN-Maoist Post Bahadur Bogati has warned of the people promulgating a new constitution from the streets if the Constituent Assembly fails in promulgating a new constitution, and the UCPN-Maoist will be the first to endorse it; and has assured of his party giving "maximum flexibility" to the ongoing talks among the three major political parties, however, if the talks fails in building a consensus on the political issues then the Maoists will launch a strong nationwide movement "to wipe out all forces for status quo", nepalnews.com and myrepublica.com write.

Mr. Bogati has shown the concern about attempts being made to impose a presidential rule and then declare a state of emergency in the country only to dissolve the Constituent Assembly and curtail the fundamental rights of the people; however, if NC and CPN-UML defend such move then the "people will fight a last and decisive fight" according to the nepalnews.com.
