Shame On Energy Ministers

Issue 02, January 10, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On January 2, 2010, stating his ministry has taken initiative to purchase 150 MW from India, Minister of State for Energy Chandra Singh Bhattarai has shamelessly said that the power-cut per day would not be more than twelve hours a day means Nepalis have to live in darkness for 84 hours a week. His senior Minister for Energy Dr. Praksh Sharan Mahat has been telling that he will import power from India and rehabilitate the thermal plants and even build new ones for mitigating power shortage since he became the minister for energy. However, nothing has happened so far. Nobody believes in whatever these ministers say now, as Nepalis have been living in darkness for 51 hours a week, and are bracing up for more power-cut in the months to come. It has been clear that the current ministers are not going to do anything that does not bring commissions to them. However, any public office holder taking a commission from any business means committing crimes that these ministers do not like to understand. These guys are not accountable to the people at all and doing everything possible to enrich them at the cost of the people in general.
