Government Appoints A New Executive Direct Of NEA

September 3, 2013: the council of ministers at the meeting held yesterday evening had appointed the joint secretary to Commission on Water and Energy Arjunkumar Karki to the office of the executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)
Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested the 21 officials including the former and incumbent executive directors of the NEA for their implication in the purchase of low quality transformers causing billions of rupees worth of loss to the NEA. CIAA has already filed a corruption case against them at the Special Court.
CIAA has arrested 10 more officials of the NEA in the second lot. CIAA has been holding investigation into their involvement in the irregularities in purchasing the low quality transformers. CIAA has secured additional 15 days for keeping them in custody for investigation into their involvement in the purchase of low quality transformers.
