Breaching Election Codes Of Conduct And Burning Voter-Education Materials

October 28, 2013: a monitoring team of security chiefs and election officers has urged the political parties to follow the election codes of conduct in Chitwan yesterday. The team also cautioned the candidates against the rampant violation of the election codes of conduct in the district, according to the news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

 

Major parties have used a number of different vehicles and small parties motorbikes breaching the election codes of conduct in the constituency no. 1 and 2 in the Chitwan district, Chief District Election Officer Binod Mohan Acharya said.

 

The monitoring team has taken some publicity and promotional materials including the sound system equipment and flags used going against the election codes of conduct.

 

The monitoring team comprising Chief District Officer Narendra Raj Sharma, judges and election officers Binod Mohan Acharya, Ananta Raj Dumre, Him Lal Belbase, Superintendent of Police Pradyumna Karki, Company Commander of the Shansher Dal Gana Jotindra Mahat and Chief at the Armed Police Force have monitored the election campaigns held by candidates in the Chitwan district.

 

An unidentified group burnt down 2000 sets of voter-education materials kept at the VDC office of Sukranagar of the Chitwan district yesterday. Spokesperson for the district police office Sanjaya Raut said that the police suspected the involvement of CPN-Maoist carders in the incident but they denied their involvement in it.
