Intensifying Maoists’ Movement
By KTM Metro Reporter In Kathmandu
During the last few days, the Maoists’ cadres and the cadres of the organizations affiliated to the Maoists have intensified their movement. They have been protesting the President, Prime Minister and other ministers participating in various programs. They greeted the President and Prime Minister participating in the Indra Jatra festival on September 3, 2009 with black flags and distributed pamphlets asking the people to celebrate the festival boycotting the presence of the President and Prime Minister. On September 12, 2009, some of the Maoist cadres stoned the vehicle Finance Minister was traveling to reach the program site in Pokhara forcing him to go back without participating in the program. The Maoist legislators and cadres have rallied at the southern gate to the State Secretariat called Singhadurbar protesting against the ceremonial President violating the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007. The students affiliated to the Maoists have shut down the private higher secondary schools called 10+2 putting forward their demands starting on September 13, 2009, and have threatened to shut down the state-run higher secondary schools, too, if the government does not met their demand by September 16, 2009.
