By KTM Metro Reporter

February 28, 2012: speaking at the opening ceremony of the 21st Lalitpur District Council, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai yesterday has said that the remaining tasks of the peace process and the constitution writing would be completed by mid-March and the constitution would be promulgated by May 27, 2012 provided the political parties would not engage in activities leading the historic process to astray, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

The prime minister also has said that the calendar of operations of the army integration would be finalized within a few days and the solutions to the problems of forming different commissions would be made in a package. To this end, the top leaders of the major three parties have been holding serious discussions almost daily. He also has said that a national consensus government would be viable to form only after the peace process and constitution writing are completed; changing government at this critical juncture would lead the uncertainty of completing the peace process and constitution writing.

Talking to the reporters at Simara Airport, NC President Sushil Koirala yesterday has said that if political parties fail to draft the new constitution within May 27, 2012, referendum would be the new alternative to honor the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nepal on not extending the term of the Constituent Assembly, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

President Koirala also has said that the parties have completed the maximum tasks of constitution writing and the new constitution could be drafted within the deadline provided the Maoists honestly enforce the agreements. He also has said that his party would lead the national unity government, as the current government will never be a consensus one.

In Kathmandu, NC parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel yesterday has said that the Maoists have been plotting to skip the May 27 deadline for completing the constitution writing to continue the current government even after May 27, 2012.
