KTM Metro Reporter

Kathmandu, June 21, 2017, Nepal marked the annual International Yoga Day today. On the occasion, Prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that yoga must be taught at school to have the mental and physical benefits, and the balance it creates between heart and brain, the RSS news stated. "Yoga is such an ancient method which saves a man from bad habits and gives pleasure," the PM said, adding" If the children can practice this, it will support their education."

Nepal has been marking the Yoga Day on Magh 1 (January 15) every year since 1989, Youga guru said while speaking to the anchor of ‘antar-sambad’ program of the Radio Nepal today morning. He also said that the yoga started in the Nepal Himalaya and then spread across Bharat comprising India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Recently, the UN has started off the Annual International Yoga Day in the insistence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The newspapers have been flooded with the news of the big shots performing yoga in public. Yoga is the daily exercise not an one-day event.

Lord Shiva is believed to be the first yoga practitioner. He permanently meditates. He is believed to be meditating sitting on the snow-capped mountain wearing only live serpents on the neck and arms and tiger skin around his waist. Meditation must have kept him warm even in the cold climate of the Himalayas.

Yoga comprises both physical and mental exercises. So, mediation is part of the yoga. Physical part of yoga is for keeping the body healthy while mental part is for keeping the mind strong and healthy, too. However, yoga gurus teach only the physical part of yoga.

Yoga has been commercialized the worldwide even though yoga is not for making money. For example, current super yoga guru Ram Dev has made billions of dollars. He charges exorbitant fees even in the mass public yoga show.
