People Of 30 To 39 Year Age Group Vulnerable To HIV

December 1, 2013: the number of people living with HIV/ AIDS was 368 last year and has reached 401 this year in Kanchanpur of the far western Nepal; most of the them had frequented the women sex workers in the district, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
Out of the 401 HIV-infected people, 212 are men, 188 women, 47 children, and one-third gender. Of them, 173 are returnees from the foreign employment and 158 are their wives, said Ashok Pandey: Coordinator at the District AIDS Coordination Committee.
Out of over 48 women sex workers in the district, six are having HIV, said Pandey, their age group is 30 to 39 years old.
HIV-infected 111 people have died since 2006 according to the statistics. Blood test centers are opened at different four places in the district and regular check up of ART, PAMTCT and VCT services are conducted to the infected people at the centers.
