Armed Struggle Instead Of People’s War And Madheshi Movement

Issue 52, December 25, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 21, 2011: the Dispute Resolution Sub-committee in the meeting held yesterday has decided to use ‘armed struggle’ instead of ‘People’s War’ and “Madheshi Movement’ in the preface of a new constitution, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

UCPN-Maoist leaders have been insisting on using ‘People’s War’ and UDMF leaders also have been for including the ‘Madheshi Movement’ in the preface of a new constitution. However, NC and CPN-UML leaders have been against using such words in the preface of a new constitution.

Now, they have reached a compromise on ‘armed struggle.’ Thus, the number of disputed issues has been gradually reducing to slightly more than ten. However, the most disputed issue: state restructuring remains the hottest issue to come to the common understanding.
