issue 08, February 21, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

February 16, 2010: speaking at the legislature, legislators have demanded the resignation of Home Minister Bhim Rawal for the lukewarm response to the murder of media tycoon Jamin Shah on the busy streets on Sunday, January 31, 2010. They have charged the Home Minister with being incompetence for running the home administration, as even after more than a week, the police have not been able to arrest the culprits.

At the same time, the editors and managers of the Kantipur publications have received threats from unknown person through emails and by phone calls for investigating the murder case and reporting it. However, the government has not made any security arrangement for their lives and property.

In a joint statement, members of Nepal Media Society, Television Broadcasters Nepal, Broadcasting Association of Nepal, and Advertising Association of Nepal have said that the government has mysteriously delaying in investigating the murder of the media magnate.

On February 15, 2010, speaking at a function held in Kathmandu, Minister for Information and Communication has said that the murder of media tycoon is not due to his media activities but due to the international conflict and the Nepalese Muslims have felt insecure.
