Maoist Combatants Come Under AISC In Principle

September 17, 2010: members of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) claim that the Maoist combatants have come under it in principle since Thursday, September 16, 2010, as the AISC meeting endorsed the guidelines for bringing the combatants under its control according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of September 17, 2010. Prime Minister is the ex-officio Chairman of the AISC. After the meeting of the AISC members held at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, Chief Secretary and Spokesperson for the AISC Madhav Ghimire has told the reporters, "The meeting endorsed the Guidelines for the Process of Monitoring, Control, Command and Code of Conduct of the Maoist Army of 2010 (2067 BS). He has also told the reporters that the meeting has also decided to make the technical committee under the AISC as the secretariat for monitoring and controlling the Maoist army; has also decided to add four new members: one each from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Maoist People’s Liberation Army, to the eight-member technical committee. Currently, the technical committee is made up of the security experts nominated by three major parties. Both the representatives of UCPN-Maoist Barsha Man Pun and NC Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat to the AISC have agreed that the PLA has come under the AISC in principle.
