Deadly Assault On Leaders Of Tarundal In Chitwan
By KTM Metro Reporter
December 7, 2011: NC lawmakers have obstructed the House session yesterday demanding the immediate actions against the attackers on the leader and cadres of the youth organization called Tarundal affiliated to the NC in the Chitwan jail, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
Chairman of Chitwan Tarundal Shiva Prasad Poudel and his four colleagues have been in the jail for the murder of Sanjay Lama of Bharatpur. At 6:00 AM yesterday morning, some prisoners of the block ‘A’ snatched the key of the block ‘B’ from the jailer and went to attack the prisoners of the block ‘B’ and assaulted Shiva Poudel and his associates injuring them seriously according to the news published in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
After the NC lawmakers yesterday disrupted the afternoon House session demanding immediate actions against the attackers on the leader of the Tarundal and his associates, Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of Home Ministry Bijya Gacchedar went to the parliament and assured the NC lawmakers of taking strong actions against the culprits.
Deputy Prime Minister Gacchedar also sent a team of medics headed by the renowned neurologist Upendra Devkota by a helicopter to Chitwan to treat the seriously injured Poudel and one of his associates. General Secretary of NC Krishna Prasad Sitaula has been monitoring the condition of the injured leader and cadres of Tarundal in Bharatpur.
Yesterday, cadres of Tarundal shut down the Bhatapur bazaar in protest against the assault on their jailed leader and his associates causing tremendous inconvenience to commuters and common folks there. Some of the Tarundal cadres damaged some stores in Bharatpur.
The irony is that the defender of the parliamentary democracy NC lawmakers obstructed the House session in protest against the leader of Tarundal and his associates making the parliament victims of the lawmakers fighting for taking actions against the gang fighter in the Chitwan jail. This is not the first time NC lawmakers have obstructed the House session making the mockery of the parliamentary democracy.
NC and CPN-UML lawmakers have made obstructing the House session as their regular practice for anything going against their cadres on the streets, in the jail and at the offices. In most of the cases they obstruct the House session for saving the alleged criminals like Shiva Poudel and his associates. However, none of the lawmakers has even spoken a word against the killing of a jeweler in Lalitpur and another youth: an employee of the Nepal Airlines Corporation at Sinamangal recently. These lawmakers don’t think the lives of the common folks as precious as the lives of their cadres. If these lawmakers don’t follow the rule of law then who would?
At the same time, the Home Ministry has suspended Chief of District Police Office of Chitwan Superintendent Khinu Prasad Acharya, jailer Chudamani Sharma Poudel and Sub-inspector Shiva Raj Chhetri for not being able to control the fight between two gangs of inmates in the Chitwan district prison.
