Kamalaris And Government Reached An Agreement

Issue 23 ,June 9, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 8, 2013: at the meeting held at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare yesterday, Kamalaris and the government have reached a 10-point agreement. The government is going to meet most of the demands of the Kamalaris within a month. Kamalaris have postponed their protest program for a month. If the government were not to meet their demands Kamalris would re-launch their protest program, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Common folks have relief from the weeklong shutdown enforced by the Kamalaris. Kamalaris have released the 22 districts from their control, people can go to work, buses and public transport vehicles and other vehicles could move without fear of getting stoned, and damaged. If the current government were potent, the government would resolve the problems of Kamalaris well before they had taken such unconstitutional act of holding common folks hostage for the ransom of meeting their demands. Common folks would not need to suffer for such a long time. Chairman Regmi and his home minister are responsible for the sufferings of the common folks.

Former legislature Shanta Chaudhary said that the government has agreed on issuing identity cards to the freed Kamalaris, rehabilitating them, giving medical treatment to the Kamalaris injured by the riot police at the Singhadurbar on June 2, 2013, and bringing the perpetrators of violence against Kamalaris to justice. Former legislature Chaudhary said that they have postponed all the protest programs for a month; if the government were to fail in meeting the demands within a month then they would continue their protest program again, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
