June 9, 2012: hearing on a writ petition filed seeking the resurrection of the Constituent Assembly (CA) for a day, and keeping the role of the parliament the CA played, a single bench of Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi of the Supreme Court of Nepal yesterday served a show-cause notice to the Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the dissolved CA, CA Secretariat, and Legislature-Parliament Secretariat to be present at the court within the next 15 days with reply in writing, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Knowing that the Supreme Court of Nepal had ruled not to extended the term of the CA beyond the May 27 deadline, advocates such as Bhojraj Acharya, Dhan Bahadur Shrestha and Gyan Prasad Khanal jointly filed a writ petition at the apex court on last Thursday, demanding to revoke the announcement of the elections to a new Constituent Assembly, reinstate the CA for one day and to allow the Legislature-Parliament continuing its business.

At the mass rally held to protest the announcement of the fresh elections to a new CA, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party- Nepal (RPP-Nepal) Kamal Thapa yesterday said that there was no alternative to fresh elections after the CA was dissolved without promulgating a new constitution; the pro-monarch leader claimed that his party was confident about establishing its monarchist agenda by winning the trust of the people; he also said that the reinstatement of the CA would not be acceptable to his party, according to the news posted on nepalnews.com.
