On October 11, 2009, Natural Resources Institute (NRI) of the United Kingdom has revealed the results of the analysis of the foodstuffs distributed by the UN World Food Program (WFP) in Nepal. The results have shown the content of moisture and levels of microorganisms in the foodstuffs are within the acceptable limits; so, the foodstuffs are safe for human consumption.
One of the human rights organizations affiliated to the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) has alleged that the foodstuffs distributed by the WFP have caused the diarrhea epidemic in mid western Nepal.
