Federation Of Nepalese Journalists Depoliticizing

Issue 49, December 05, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 30, 2010: Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has started its action on depoliticizing it denying membership to anyone of the members of any political parties, and of any sister organizations of any political party. It wants to keep away itself from the politics and supporting one party or another.

Professional organizations have been suffering from the dirty political games. Most of the members of professional organizations have been acting as organizations affiliated to one party or another depending on the affiliation of the members of the management committee. Recently, they have been even fighting the election to members of the management committee based on the political party saying progressive or democratic groups and so on. Consequently, these members of management committee work as the members of sister organizations of one political party or another rather than for the benefits of the profession.

FNJ has certainly trying to come out of such dirty political network barring the members of political parties and their sister organizations from being its members. Such action of the FNJ is highly commendable and it should make a success and should be the guide to other professional organizations to this direction.
