Impact Of Climate Change On The Himalayas

On August 30, 2009, legislatures of Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri-lanka met in Kathmandu, Nepal to discuss the impact of climate change on the Himalayas and consequently on the lives of the 700 million people living in the basins of the three major rivers such as Ganga, Brahmaputra and Indus, and then prepare joint recommendations for resolving the problems of climate change and the challenges posed by it at the 15th global summit on the climate change to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009. The British government agency called Department for International Development (DFID) has sponsored it. (Source: State-news agency RSS)
