issue 46, November 13, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 10, 2011: the Ganeshman Memorial Foundation has held a memorial service on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of Supreme Commander of Nepalese People’s Movement in 1990 Ganeshman Singh in Kathmandu today.

Ganeshman Singh sacrificed his luxurious life and opted for going to jail and risked his life all the time trying to finish off the autocratic family rule and of course the despotic monarchical rule in Nepal. He has succeed in doing the both but his colleagues did not leave him in peace at the last moment of his courageous life. His colleagues betrayed him and institutionalized corruption instead of the democratic institutions and follow the democratic principles and norms as the brave Signh wanted in his life.

Consequently, Nepalis needed to launch the second people’s movement in 2006 to ultimately finish off not only the monarchy but also the undemocratic elements taking roots in the political parties. However, the movement has not completed, the corrupt and undemocratic elements have been attempting on coming back. Nepalis need to fight against such elements even now to materialize the dream of Ganeshman Singh.
