Shutdown And Counter Shutdown In Kathmandu

Issue 03, January 17, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter inKathmandu

January 10, 2010, the political party called ‘Janamorcha’ has shut down all businesses in the Kathmandu Valley protesting against the federalism. Leaders of this party have been advocating that giving power to the ethnic groups and making Nepal federal states would split the country into pieces. These old leaders have been living in the past cozy kingdom they have enjoyed their masterly lives do not know that the time is of 21st century and ethnic Nepalis know what they need what they don’t for having their participation in the state affairs. The ethnic people say that federalism is the only binding element of all ethnic groups into a single Nepal.

At the same time, the indigenous people’s front called ‘Nevah Morcha’ has staged a motorcycle rally countering the call of the ‘Janamorcha’ for shutting down the Kathmandu Valley. The ethnic groups are for federalism whereas leaders of the regressive force have been against it.
