Sushil Koirala Failing To Be Prime Minister

Issue 50, December 9, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 6, 2012: the Central Working Committee (CWC) of NC nominated its President Sushil Koirala to a candidate for a new prime minister but the ruling coalition of UCPN-Maoist and UDMF asked the NC leaders to settle the contentious issues in a package before Mr. Koirala takes the office of prime minister.

On November 23, 2012, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav had given the political parties a week to find out a consensus candidate for a unity government but they could not choose a fittest person within the deadline. Then, the president extended the deadline for another week ending on December 6, 2012.

With a lot of bickering over who should get the nomination among the contenders for the office of prime minister, the CWC of the NC selected President of NC Sushil Koirala as a candidate for a new prime minister of a unity government yesterday within the second deadline set by the president for today but Koirala could not get the endorsement from the ruling coalition.
