Issue 02, January 08, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 1, 2012: the government of Nepal has declared that the year of Lumbini has started off today. The government has done so to develop Lumbini: the birthplace of Lord Buddha as the world Buddhist center. On this occasion we have good news that the British Museum has corrected the wrong information on the birthplace of Lord Buddha replacing India with Nepal.

Monarch called Ashok of Kalinga currently the Orissa State of India had visited Lumbini: birthplace of Lord Buddha and built a pillar by his name that stands even today. Ashok fought several wars that killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers, and finally came to realize that it was worthless to win one state after another at the cost of so many human lives and took the shelter in Buddha and spent most of his life on the welfare of the people.

Some of the museums have erroneously stated that Lord Buddha was born in India. ‘The Himalayan Times’ of today quoting the state news agency called RSS has stated that the British Museum in London has corrected the wrong information on the birthplace of Lord Buddha and has replaced India with Nepal at the request of the Global Federation for Nepali Literature (GFNL). Similarly, a museum in South Korea has wrongly stated that Lord Buddha was born in India. The GFNL is going to write to the museum to correct erroneous information given on the birthplace of Lord Buddha, ‘The Himalaya Times’ of today writes.
