No Shortage of Foodstuff During Dashain

On September 18, 2009, Minister for Commerce and Supply Rajendra Mahato has said that the government has been working hard not to let the shortage of foodstuff in the market during the Dashain festival.

However, if you read the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ you will find that the news of shortage and high prices of foodstuff across the country; the government has been unable to influence the fantastically high prices of foodstuff during the great Hindu festival ‘Dashain’. Every Hindu family anticipates eating at least a meal of rice and meat during the Dashain festival; however, for the people in the remote areas, rice has been off-limits thanks to the government’s incompetence.
