Nepalese Army Deploying In Syria For Peace Keeping

July 12, 2013: the Nepal Army has received permission from the government for deploying the Nepalese army in the peacekeeping mission to Syria.
At its meeting held yesterday, the Interim Election Council of Ministers (IECM) decided to accept the request of the United Nations for Nepal Army sending its troop to Syria as part of the UN global peacekeeping troops in the conflict-ridden nations, according to the news on ‘gorkhapataonline.com’.
"Two batches of NA troops (130 in each) will be sent to Syria in July and September," said spokesman for the IECM also the Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Poudel after the meeting.
In response to the raging civil war in Syria, the United Nations set up a UN Supervision Mission in Syria in 2012 following the UN Security Council Resolution 2043.
